Phyllis Ann Moored Drozd 91, a life-long resident and business owner of Allegan County, died on Feb. 14, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 26, 1932, to Edward and Wilma (Busfield) Moored. In 1953, she married Thomas Teofil Drozd, who was not only her husband but her business partner for 60 years until his death in 2014. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as an active community member. Phyllis continued to own and operate Drozd Seeds, a Pioneer Seed Dealership, until her death. She was also committed to making sure all students received a good education. She served on the school board for Foster School from 1962 to 1967, the Allegan County Intermediate School Board from 1966 to 2013 and the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) from 1993 to 2013. She served in many leadership positions on these boards including President of MASB from 2001-2002. She received many awards for her work, including the President's Award of Recognition, MASB's highest award. Phyllis was also active in many community organizations in Allegan, including the Business & Professional Women's Club, Allegan Co. Leadership League, and the Michigan Farm Bureau. She was a 4-H leader and served on the Tennis Patrons and Sports Boosters Club for many years. Recently she served on the Tennis Fundraiser Campaign that raised funds to enhance the new tennis complex at Allegan Public Schools.

She leaves behind three children: Julie (Thomas) Gennaro, T. Jon (Melissa) Drozd, Jay (Lori) Drozd; eight grandchildren: Thomas (Alicia) Green Gennaro, Anna Gennaro, Paul (Ailsa Jeffries) Gennaro, Jake (Chelsey Bonthuis) Drozd, Ryan (Morgan) Drozd, Curtis (Rebecca) Drozd, Christin (Andrew) Kelley, Camdyn Drozd; and eight great-grandchildren: Ruby, Beau and Libby Drozd; Addison, Emerson and Gibson Kelley; Hallie Drozd and Ada Green Gennaro. She is also survived by three siblings: Kenneth Moored, Raymond Moored and Barbara (Moored) Jerue.

Family and friends are invited to the First Baptist Church, 1290 32nd St., Allegan, MI 49010 on Friday, February 23, 2024, for a viewing from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a service at 12 PM, followed by a luncheon at The Silo.

For friends and family that cannot attend the Friday services, there will be a limited viewing time Thursday night February 22, 2024, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.

Contributions may be made in Phyllis' memory to Allegan Public Schools for the Phyllis Drozd Memorial Fund to create a space for the Community to gather outside the Field House.
