Phillip G. Sweetland

Passed away suddenly on December 17, 2019 in Allegan, MI. Phil was born June 11, 1934, the son of Darl and Bernice Sweetland in Plainwell, MI. Phil was married to Betty Colwell November 4, 1955 in Goshen, IN. He served his country in the US Army from 1955-1957. Phil worked at Plainwell Paper and at James River for a total of 23 years. After leaving the paper, he and Betty owned the Snow's Grocery Store in Vicksburg, MI for over 6 years before retiring to Brandywine Lake in Gobles, MI. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing. Phil is survived by his wife, Betty; his sister, Darlene (Ron) Hoover of Otsego; and a sister-in-law, Kate Sweetland of Otsego. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane, Dale, Larry and Richard Sweetland. The family will have a private graveside service in Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.
