Peter Vroegop

eter Vroegop, age 89 of Kalamazoo, passed away with his dear wife by his side on January 10, 2026. He was born on February 19, 1936, in Broek op Langedijk, Netherlands, the son of John and Alida (Plugboer) Vroegop. The family immigrated to the United States in 1949. Peter served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1955-1961. On June19,1959 he married Evelyn "Evie" Tuinier. They were blessed with four children. Peter worked as a driver for Consumers Concrete, retiring in 1998. Pete and Evie were members of Milwood Christian Reformed Church for 60 years and most recently had been attending Heritage Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling with Evie.

He is survived by his wife Evie Vroegop; his children: Steve (Sandy) Vroegop, Kim (Mike) VanderPloeg, Todd (Janet) Vroegop and Dawn Vroegop; his grandchildren: Ben (Evin Wallus) Vroegop, Luke Vroegop, Josh Vroegop, John (Jessica Rinaldi) VanderPloeg, Mitch (Averi) Vroegop, Allie Vroegop, Tessa (Steve) Lewis, Kelsey (Jim) McHenry, Caleb (Alison) Vroegop, Naomi (Nate) Zylstra, Jackson Thiara, Isabelle Thiara, and Madeline Thiara; his great-grandchildren: Pieter VanderPloeg, Georgia VanderPloeg, Charlie Vroegop, Jack Vroegop, Emerson McHenry, Joanna Vroegop, Adelyn Vroegop, and Lettie Vroegop. He is also survived by his siblings William Vroegop, Frank (Marian) Vroegop, Adrian (Sue) Vroegop and Alice (Marty) DeJong.

Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, January 15th, 2026, at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 South 11th Street, where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Simon Tuin officiating. A private committal with military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Christian Reformed Church.
