Penelope Newhouse

Penelope "Penny" Newhouse, age 82, passed away June 6, 2020 at her residence in Kalamazoo, MI. Penny was born September 30, 1937 in Casper, Wyoming, the daughter of the late George and Iva (Galusha) James. For over 31 years she was employed as a buyer working for Brown Co., James River and Ft. James. She was a member of the Southwestern Michigan Purchasing Association, the National Association of Purchasing Management, and an active member of the Portage Senior Center. On September 26, 1959, Penny was united in marriage to David N. Newhouse, who preceded her in death on June 24, 2003. Surviving are three children Terri Aukerman, David (Debbie) Newhouse and Jeffrey Newhouse; grandchildren Michelle (Nick) Smith, Danielle (James) Ladd and Richard (Kelly) Aukerman III, Kristine Newhouse and Zachary (Kristin) Newhouse, Thomas (Katie) Ivany, Kimberly Ivany; great-grandchildren Jason, Kyler, Chase, Serenity, Isabell, Greyson, Genevieve; two brothers Mike (JoAnn) James and Jesse (Donna) James. Graveside services were held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. A Memorial Celebration of Penny's Life will be held from 1-5pm on Sunday, July 12th at the Texas Drive Park Pavilion (6603 Texas Drive). Penny requested that in lieu of flowers: "Smile or hug someone just because they may need it; phone or email a friend or family member that you've been meaning to contact but just haven't found the time; and let those nearest and dearest to you know how much you love them and how important they are to you!"
