Age 75, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on June 21, 2026.

Peggy was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on February 27, 1951, the daughter of Raynold Stillman and Loretta Laree (Judd) Barber, both originally of Battle Creek, Michigan. Because her father served in the Navy, Peggy's early childhood was spent living in both Virginia and California.

Peggy graduated in 1969 from Portage Central High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Ferris State University. She dedicated much of her career to working as a legal secretary in Kalamazoo.

Peggy lived a life grounded in her deep Christian faith. She was a longtime, dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Portage, where she was involved in women's Bible studies and prayer meetings. A passionate traveler, Peggy loved exploring the world, taking memorable trips to England, India, Hungary, Hawaii, and beyond. She loved reading, dancing, and any breezy ocean beach. At home, she was the devoted keeper of her family's history, lovingly maintaining genealogical records and cherished family photos.

Peggy was incredibly proud of her sons and cherished nothing more than being surrounded by her loved ones for the holidays. She is survived by her sons Mark W. Uminn (Wendy) of Kalamazoo, Michigan and William R. Uminn (Erin) of Forest, Virginia. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Mark Uminn, Jr. (Sarah), Elise Uminn Rabine (Lucas), Mallory Uminn, Irelyn Uminn, and William H. Uminn, II; as well as her great-grandson, Mark Uminn, III. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Barber, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raynold and Loretta Barber, and her brother, Raymond A. Barber.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 East Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49002. Interment will take place at Augusta Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Portage.
