Pauline Weaner

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Pauline Frances Weaner passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Traverse

Manor, Traverse City, Mich.

Pauline was born on February 6, 1922, in Fort Jennings, Ohio, to August and Philomena (Heidnescher) Wallen. Surviving is her daughter, Paula Weaner Swink, Traverse City, Mich.; five grandchildren, Edward Kline of Loma, Colo., Tony Kline of Cedar, Mich., Todd Kline of Hicksville, Ohio, Holly Kline Fitch of Manteca, Calif., and Scott Bellamy, Maricopa, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Toni Hall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) G. Weaner; 1973; four brothers, Sylvester, Irvin, Norman and Bob; and two sisters, Rita Rigg and Dickie Mack.

Bob and Pauline owned and operated the Peerless Restaurant and later The Sherwood House in Sherwood, Ohio. Pauline retired from Bryan Community Hospital in 2009 where she was director of dietary for many years. Her love for cooking encouraged us and passed that love on to her grandchildren, as well as many young people that worked for her over the years. One young man sent her a birthday card this past February and thanked her for influencing his own love of food and satisfaction in pursuing culinary arts as part of his own career. She loved people with her cooking, generosity and kindness. Pauline was petite in stature with a strong loving heart and willing spirit that will remain with us always.

Interment will be at St. Isidore’s Cemetery, (Delaware-Bend), Defiance, Ohio, at a later date, with a celebration of Pauline’s life to follow.
