Rejoice with us; do not be sad, for she was a child of the King. Her earthly chaos has ended, and she has seen the glory of Jesus. Pauline "Ruth" Jepkema. Born on June 6, 1298, to Arthur and Iris (Courtney) Scheffers in Kalamazoo, MI. Ruth was the oldest of five children and even delivered her youngest brother, David, when she was 16 years old. After graduating from Kalamazoo Christian High, she attended Bronson Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in 1949. She married Harry Jepkema in October of 1949. They had 4 children in the next 10 years and celebrated nearly 54 years of marriage before Harry passed away in 2003. Family was the most important thing for Ruth. She loved being surrounded by loved ones and faithfully prayed for each one by name every day. After living in Kalamazoo for most of their lives, Ruth and Harry moved to Hudsonville in their retirement to be closer to family. They found a church home at Hillcrest CRC and never regretted the move. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; daughter, Judy Wesseldyke; son-in-law, Jack Stevens; brothers, Art Scheffers, David Scheffers; sister and brother-in-law, Marijane and Rodger Buining; sister-in-law, Dorene Scheffers. Surviving are her children, Karen Stevens, Harry and Barbara Jepkema, Bruce and Susan Jepkema, Scott and Linda Wesseldyke; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and one more on the way; brother, Jake and June Scheffers; sister-in-law, Carol Scheffers; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Friday, November 5, at 12:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd. Hudsonville, MI 49426. Interment Georgetown Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Manor Benevolence Fund or Hillcrest CRC Benevolence Fund. Special thanks go to the staff at Waterford Place Assisted Living, who took such good care of Mom for the last 3 years. For everyone's safety the family requests that masks are worn, and social distancing be observed whenever possible.
