Obituary
Paul Koop, age 74, of Holland, died November 30, 2011. Paul died following a long battle with cancer which he fought with remarkable courage, dignity and a deep faith. He had a profound capacity to love others and was endeared by all who knew him. His quick wit and humor were unique gifts that brought much joy. Paul’s profession was in pharmaceutical sales and distribution management with AH Robins and Bergen Brunswig Corporation. Paul was actively involved in his churches and civic organizations in Battle Creek, Trumbull, Connecticut, Okemos and Holland. During his retirement, Paul enjoyed being Master of Ceremonies at the Tulip Time Evergreen Commons Variety Show. He served as a Board Member of the Survivor’s Prostate Cancer Support Group at Gilda’s Club.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Jennie Koop; brother, Howard Koop; and in-laws, Ginny Koop, Jack Yeomans and Donald Schout.
Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Judy; sons, Scott ( Sharon) Koop of Grand Rapids and their children, Laura and her fiance, Adam Schwabauer, Trevor and Elizabeth; James (Tamela) Koop of Grand Rapids and their children, Zachariah and Gabrielle; and daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Milyo of Columbia, MO and their children, Audrey and Luke. Paul is survived by sisters, Gayle, (Clare) Pott, Ruth Yeomans; and brother, Erwin (Doris) Koop, all of Holland; inlaws, Brenda (Lee) Michael of Florida, Norma (Arnold) Disselkoen, Wayne (Wanda) Schout, Lloyd (Melva) Schout, all of Zeeland. He is also survived by many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at 14th Street Christian Reformed Church, 14 W. 14th St., Holland, with Rev. Marvin Hofman officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland.
