Fitzpatrick, Patrick J. Kalamazoo, Michigan Patrick John Fitzpatrick, a proud Irishman, age 93 of Kalamazoo, died on March 15, 2022. He was born in Kalamazoo on June 8, 1928, the son of Peter and Mary (Bannigan) Fitzpatrick. He served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. Patrick worked as a steam fitter and was a member of the Union Local 357. For 40 years, he worked for Johnson Service. On May 5, 1951, he married Dorothy McDonald, and they were blessed with 64 years until her death in 2015. They were members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where Patrick was an usher, eucharistic minster, and senior alter server. Patrick has a quick wit along with his dancing skills which included the Shirley Temple, Irish Jig, and the Charlie Brown. He was a very honest man and a great caregiver for his family. He knew the value of an education and made sure education was completed by his kids and grandkids. His family includes his children: James Fitzpatrick, Karen (Jeffrey) Garrison, Paul Fitzpatrick, Carol (Ron) Burns, Laurie Fitzpatrick, and Mary Fitzpatrick; his 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Helen Honeysett; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Friends may visit with his family on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with Msgr. Michael Hazard presiding. A private burial with military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Patrick may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
