Naomi Frances Goodrich Carpenter, 88, of St. Clair Shores, formerly of Detroit and Harper Woods, died Dec. 31, 2014. Frances was born on July 6, 1926 in Detroit, the daughter of Forest C. and Naomi (Lane) Goodrich. She was employed as the Office Manager with J.L. Hudson Restaurants before her retirement. Frances married Robert Carpenter on August 31, 1945 in Detroit. She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and formerly Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Frances was devoted to her church and her family. She especially enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother. At an earlier age she did beautiful needlework, and enjoyed traveling. Frances is survived by her daughters, Janet (Wayne) Thomas and Diane (Thomas) Emling; her grandchildren, Anne (Joseph) Phillips, Rebecca (Robert) Nicely, Timothy Emling and Stephen Emling; great-grandchildren, Cadence Phillips and Andrew Nicely. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Naomi Goodrich; husband, Robert Carpenter; and siblings, Forest Goodrich, Clyde Goodrich and Grace Brunner. Memorial Services will be held 11am, Sat., Jan.3, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Methodist Church, 31601 Harper, in St. Clair Shores. The family will greet friends staring at 10am.
