Nancy J. 6/7/1934 - 4/20/2021 Richland, Michigan Nancy J. (Hamblin) VanderSalm, age 86, of Richland passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. She was born in Richland, Michigan on June 7, 1934, the daughter of Harvey and June (Baker) Enzian and graduated from Richland High School and Nazareth College. Nancy served as an Oncology nurse at Borgess Hospital for more than 22 years. Nancy married Robert A. Hamblin on June 30, 1956; he preceded her in death on December 9, 1992. She then married James M. VanderSalm on February 22, 1997; he preceded her in death on August 18, 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Colin) Kennedy of Bloomfield Hills; three grandchildren, Madeline Kennedy of Chicago, IL, Alex and Olivia Kennedy, of Bloomfield Hills; her sister, Venetia (John) Laman; her step-sons, John (Cathryn) and Thomas (Adelaide) VanderSalm; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Ned (Samantha) and James VanderSalm; and three step-great grandchildren. Nancy was also preceded in death by her sons, David and Robert Hamblin Jr.; and a step-grandson, Matthew VanderSalm. Nancy enjoyed sewing & other needle work, reading, traveling and wood carving. She was a charter member of the Gull Lake Area Community Church and the Kalamazoo Wood Carving Club. The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 26th at the Living Hope Community Church of Richland 9292 East CD Ave., Richland, MI 49083 where services to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday. Interment will follow at Cressey Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted at the church or for those wishing to make contributions in Nancy's memory, please direct them to Living Hope Community Church of Richland or the American Heart Association.
