Nagle, Nancy 3/16/1942 - 11/25/2021 Kalamazoo Nancy Jean Nagle passed away November 25, 2021 at the age of 79. Born on March 16, 1942 to Gerald and Betty King, she was the oldest of 6 children (2 brothers and 3 sisters). She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James (Bill) Nagle. Nancy is survived by two step-daughters-Gayle Nagle of Idaho and Sharon Papke of Grand Rapids; two nephews - Marc (Denise) Pence of Kalamazoo and Mike (Sherri) Pence of Vicksburg; Niece Mary (Kryn) Kievit of Schoolcraft and best friend, Deb Wilkinson of Kalamazoo. A lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area, Nancy graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. She went on to marry James William (Bill) Nagle on November 19, 1966 and they enjoyed fifty years of marriage. Together they owned Nagle's Top Dog, formally Dairy Isle, since 1958. She was such a hard, hard worker at the restaurant getting up at 2:00am every morning to go in and make donuts. Nancy & Bill owned 4 acres on Newman's air strip in Kalamazoo, which they named "Eagle Nest", with runway lights going down their long and curvy driveway. They even had a "cat crossing" sign as Nancy was an avid cat lover and owner. (She loved her dogs as well…but her cats won her heart). Each year she and her best friend Deb would prepare for the annual "fly-in" and make enough spare ribs to serve up to 500 people, then turn around and start planning for the next year. Known for being a positive, upbeat, people person, Nancy never had a negative word to say about anyone. She loved reading and writing poems, was wonderful at telling a story and even better at telling a joke. Her sense of humor and laugh were infectious. You could often find her hanging out with friends, enjoying a cocktail, at the VFW 827. St. Patrick's Day was by far her favorite holiday where you'd find her dressed up for the occasion and drinking a green beer. Nancy also enjoyed gardening and befriending wildlife animals from birds to squirrels to deer. She was a lover of all her furry friends, especially her kitties. It's also fitting that she enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, making the best lasagna and deviled eggs. Saturday was her special day as she loved getting her hair done by her favorite hairdresser, getting dressed up, putting on make-up and jewelry and going out to lunch. It always made her feel so special and happy. Friends may meet the family from 11:00am-12:30pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo MI., 49007 where a Memorial Service will follow at 12:30pm. Graveside will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the SPCA of Southwest Michigan, 6955 W.
