Miriam J. Taber

Miriam J. (Crone) Taber died peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the age of 98 in Grand Rapids, MI.

Miriam grew up near Detroit, completed nurse's training at Bronson School of Nursing in Kalamazoo, and graduated from Albion College with highest honors. She served as God led her, supporting her husband in pastoral ministry, teaching children about God, and volunteering wherever she found herself. Many needy children benefited over the years from the mittens and baby blankets she lovingly knitted. She continued to lead Bible studies even after a stroke ended her other volunteer activities. She will be greatly missed by many, especially in the Clark Retirement Community where she resided from 2006 on.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harold M. Taber, and sisters Gladys Osborne and Eleanor Chinn. She is survived by her children Sally Taber (Dean Tousley), Norma Taber, and Paul Harrington-Taber (Kathye), as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Miriam's life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clark Retirement Community (1551 Martin Luther King Jr St SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan). In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Clark Foundation (1551 Martin Luther King Jr St SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49506), designated for Benevolent Care.
