Michael Ward

Michael Eugene Ward passed away on December 31, 2025, in Otsego, MI, entering into the eternal peace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on June 3, 1961, to Muriel Ann Estes and Billy Blanton. Later in life, when Muriel married Byron Paul Ward, Michael embraced him as a father and took on the Ward family name.

After relocating to South Haven, MI, Michael met Annette-the love of his life-at the family bait and tackle shop. Just two weeks after meeting her, he proposed. Together, they ran Ward's Bait and Tackle before moving south following their marriage.

Michael's gift for sales led him to a remarkable career with Walmart, Inc., where he became known for opening "31 Walmart stores in 30 states," a feat he proudly celebrated. His work ethic and dedication made a lasting impression on all who worked with him.

Above all else, Michael cherished his role as a father. He and Annette were blessed with two children: Christopher Michael "Ghostbuster" Ward (1989) and Hannah May Ward (1998). His deep faith was renewed through the ministry of Corner Bible Church in Allegan, MI, where he grew in his love for Christ and sought to reflect that love daily in his family life.

In his final days, cared for at home by his daughter Hannah, Michael drew ever closer to God. Hannah shares, "He was never closer to God than just before he passed away... I thank God for giving me the dad He gave. I am so honored."

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at Corner Bible Church in Allegan, MI on January 28, 2026, at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Aaron Bronsink of Kalamazoo/Fennville. Loved ones are welcome to attend or join online via livestream by contacting Hannah May Ward of Otsego, MI.
