Michael Johnson

Michael Johnston, lovingly known as "Micky" to his friends and family, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 60. He was born on April 22, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Robert Johnston and Joyce Johnston.

Michael was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He continued his education at Western Michigan University and later completed an EMT certification course at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

A gifted artist with a gentle soul, Michael lived simply and treated everyone with kindness. He found peace in the woods and cherished the beauty of nature. His love for animals-especially cats-was a reflection of his caring spirit. He was happiest surrounded by the quiet of the outdoors, where he could fish, sketch, or simply enjoy the stillness.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce; his sister, Paula; his niece, Ashley; and nephews, Adam and Ayden. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his brother, Andrew.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Michael's life will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Hoven Chapel, 414 E. Front Street, Buchanan, MI.
