Michael Lynn Ament, 79, of Lawrence, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2024 at home.

Michael was born Sept. 2, 1945, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Kenneth and Irene (Myers) Ament, both of whom precede him in passing. Also preceding him in passing was his late wife, Linda (Meagher) Ament, on May 4, 2014.

Michael served his country, in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. In his younger years he worked at his father's Chrysler Plymouth Dealership and Service Station, was a construction worker helping build the Cook Nuclear Plants Reactor, worked as a press operator at Auto Specialities and Fisher Body among other jobs over the years. He loved cars! Was a member of the Antique Auto Restorers Club and shared his love of cars with his children and grandchildren. His favorite place to be was in his garage tinkering on a car and visiting with friends. He was a "character" as told by his many beloved friends. He will be greatly missed.

Michael is survived by a daughter, Julie (David) Beeching; a son, David (Melissa) Ament; a granddaughter, Nicole (Alan) Colgren; two grandsons, Brandon (Rachel) Beeching and Aidan Ament; three great-grandsons: Easton Colgren, Beckett Colgren and Maddox Colgren; and a sister, Nancy Romeo. Also surviving are many other family members and friends. We would like to give a special thank you to his friend "Bonnie" for her compassion and caring over the last few years.

As per Michael's wishes, cremation will take place, and a private graveside memorial service will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, where military rites will be performed by American Legion Hess-Eastman Post 174, of Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Legion Hess-Eastman Post 174. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
