Melvin David Prescott

Prescott, Melvin David Melvin David Prescott, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2022. He was born July 28, 1976 in Kalamazoo to Melvin Prescott and Lynda Manitowash. Melvin was a member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi. He enjoyed fishing, powwows, doing crafts, and drumming, and was known to always be helping others. Melvin was preceded in death by Grandma Beverly Sager; Grandpa Floyd Sager; Grandpa Robert Prescott; uncles Bud Prescott and Russ Prescott; and aunt Joyce Prescott. Melvin is survived by his parents, Melvin Prescott and Lynda Manitowash-Vedaa; uncles and aunts: Dale (Barb) Anderson of Portage, Jean Prescott of Kalamazoo, Donald Prescott of Tucson, AZ, Joseph Manitowash of Three Rivers, Raymond Sager of Kalamazoo, and Lynette Sager of Galesburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will take place Monday, December 26, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi (NHBP) Community Center, 1488 Mno-Bmadzewen Way, Fulton, MI 49052, where visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest immediately following in the Athens Indian Mission Cemetery. Contributions in Melvin's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
