Hewitt , Maynard Gobles, MI Maynard Lewis Hewitt, 90, of Gobles, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at his home in Gobles with his loving wife and dog, Lola, at his side. He was born September 15, 1932 in Kalamazoo, the son of O.D. Hewitt and Sarah (Harris) Hewitt. In his early years, Maynard developed his love for baseball. He was an avid Tigers fan and if not working in the yard, he could be found inside watching the game. He enlisted in the Marine CORPS and proudly served his country for four years during the Korean War. Being an avid sports fan, Maynard and his family attended the 68 World Series in Detroit. He also loved hunting and fishing and NASCAR racing. He and his son attended many races over the years. For many years, Maynard and his wife Bonnie, were on a bowling league. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals and provided a loving home for many rescues over the years. Maynard is survived by his wife Bonnie (Sieber) Hewitt, two sons, Patrick Hewitt and Michael Hewitt, one daughter, Starr Horrigan; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; three step daughters, Debra (David) Lutz, Norita (Steven) Smith and Cathleen (John) Goodrich; seven step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Maynard was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Hewitt, brothers, David Hewitt, Lester Hewitt and Merle Hewitt, sisters, Margaret Coons, Joyce Kline and Mary Bennet. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, where a sharing of memories will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Hicks Cemetery, Battle Creek.
