Mary Margaret (Marsden) Wesley of Kalamazoo, MI died January 11, 2015. She was born April 7, 1925, to Ada Madeline (Richardson) and William Shem Marsden in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in the idyllic Canadian countryside with her older sister, Betty Jane, and her younger brother, William Harland Marsden, who both died years ago. When she was 13 years old, she met Charles (Chuck) Wesley, a handsome Yankee from Detroit, whose parents had a summer cottage on Lake Erie. They were friends for years and both served in World War II, she in the Canadian Army and he in the U.S. Navy. In the spring of 1949 they were married and she moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where she became a U.S. citizen, and where they raised two children who turned out pretty well: Mary Michele Wesley in Kalamazoo, and Charles William (Chip) Wesley who lives in Phippsburg, Maine, with his wife Susan, and their sons, Charles Jean (CJ), Jonathan Marsden, and Samuel William. Mary and Chuck eventually moved up north (Gaylord MI), down south (Zephyrhills FL) and, after Chuck died in 1991, Mary moved to Kalamazoo. She loved people, pets, and the Detroit Tigers (win or lose). She was lucky to find many friends in Kalamazoo, especially Cheryl Van Keuren, who made her life much easier and better for many years. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be interred in Gaylord, next to Chuck, in the spring.
