Swartz, Mary E. 10/5/1918 - 5/27/2022 Kalamazoo, MI Mary Elizabeth (Pease) Swartz was born on October 5, 1918, to Zera and Winifred (Lyster) Pease in Breedsville, Michigan and was a resident of Kalamazoo, for most of her 103 years. Mary passed peacefully at Sue's Loving Care Adult Foster Care home, on Friday May 27, 2022. Mary was married to Amiel Swartz on June 22, 1940, and they were blessed with 75 years of marriage. Mary attended Parson's Business College where she met her husband. Amiel preceded her in death on November 17, 2015. Mary was a member of Alpha Iota Sorority and a long-time member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Mary's career of thirty-six years was as the Assistant Purchasing Agent for the Humphrey Products Company Mary and Amos loved to travel to many countries including China, Russia, Africa, and many European and South American countries. Their Saddle Lake house near South Haven provided enjoyment to entertain family and friends with pontoon rides and great food, for Mary was an excellent cook! Besides her culinary skills, Mary was a fine seamstress and stitchery talent, making many gift items for all. She enjoyed dining out and attending musical concerts, Broadway shows, and Civic Theater plays. Mary was also preceded in death by her brother, Carleton Pease, and nephew, David Pease. Surviving are her nieces, Rhenda Pease, Judy Cartwright, and Sandra Graciano; nephews, Michael (Suzanne) Ameroso of Buffalo, New York; great-nephews, Rus Ross and Francisco Graciano; great-nieces Cora Graciano-Ramos and Maricela Furr, all of San Antonio, Texas, and Kemberlee (Matthew) Mahaffey of St. Louis, Missouri; and great-great-nephews, Luke and Colin Mahaffey of St. Louis, Missouri. The many wonderful memories of great times with Mary will keep enriching the lives of all of us who knew her spunky, witty personality. She will surely be missed. Mary's service will take place on Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Luke's Epscopal Church, 247 W. Lovell Street, Kalamazoo MI 49007. Visitation at 11:00 AM and service will be at 12:00 PM. Private graveside services will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial, South In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Centrica Navigators Hospice, or Sue's Loving Care AFC.
