Adams, Mary Lou Indian Lake, Michigan Mary Lou Adams, age 81 of Indian Lake, died March 17, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was born June 4, 1937 in Hopkins, the daughter of Vernon and Maxine (Marron) Weick. Mary Lou was a 1955 graduate of Hopkins High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in teaching from Western Michigan University. Following several substitute teaching positions, she found her career at UpJohn Company working in Interlibrary Loans, where she retired in 1996. On July 4, 1960, Mary Lou married George D. Adams. They were members of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a gifted crafter, including knitting, cross-stitching, and quilting. Mary Lou was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially at their home on Indian Lake. She will be remembered for her love of chocolate and her most shared advice, "you take what you get and you don't throw a fit." She is survived by her husband George Adams; her children: Dan (Sandy) Adams, Philip (Mary) Adams, and Mary Beth (Jim) Kelly; her grandchildren: Janae, Matt, and Joey Adams, Abby Adams (Ryan Meddaugh), Kyle, Sean, and Brendan Kelly; her brother Bill Weick; her sister Laurie Weick-Wood; her sister-in-laws Gloria Shoemaker and Barb Adams; her brother-in-law Earl Bensinger; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with a Rosary at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 West Centre Avenue, Portage, with Father Basker Lopez presiding. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 25, 2019 at 2 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
