Mary Koenig-La Joice

Koenig-La Joice, Mary C. Kalamazoo Passed away, Thursday July 16, 2020. Mary was born July 12, 1929 in Cleveland, OH the daughter of George and Louise (Rogers) Schmidt. She was employed by the Kalamazoo County Road Commission prior to her retirement. Mary was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends She is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Gary) Brown, Kathleen (Eric) VanGoeye; 6 grandchildren, Tyler (Lynneea) Brown, Stuart Brown, Caleb VanGoeye, Melina Brown, Cameron VanGoeye, and Cole VanGoeye; 2 great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Emelia Brown; a brother, George Schmidt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Koenig in 1985, and Virgil LaJoice in 2007. Mary was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Koenig; sister, Ann Rees; brother-in-law, John Rees; brother-in-law, Ernest Koenig; sister-in-law, Rita Koenig, and sister-in-law Thelma Schmidt. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:30 am, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre. Burial will be in Portage South Cemetery.
