The lady loved a party, especially if it had a theme with fast horses or involved Mexico. She made her last Derby but not the full Cinco de Mayo, passing in the early hours of May 5, 2025. She was 85 and braved a courageous, if acutely short, stand against leukemia, diagnosed less than a week prior to her passing.

Kay was a kook, she lived to be the life of the party, or at least so in her view; and she held strong views, of how to and how not, of political right and wrong, of left handedness and being left. She shared those views with her late husband Robert Davis, some to his chagrin, others to his battle hymn.

They were a pair, raising three pair of kids, all of whom survived: Kay's kooks, Judson Hite (Judy Snyder), her favorite son, Kenneth Hite (Elizabeth Levy-Navarro); and Bob's brood, Jeffrey Davis (Debbie Davis), Kelley Edelbrock (Andrew Edelbrock), Trisha Rue (Gary Rue), and Dane Davis (Annie Davis). The combined clan contains 14 grandchildren, tragically losing Alec Hite last December 5. Through marriage and remarriage, step-relations grew ad infinitum. Through it all, Kay's brother's boys, John Woodman (Stacy Woodman) and Andrew Woodman (Bridget Woodman) were sought and brought into this Brady-bunch bond.

In addition to Bob and Alec, Kay was also predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Lucille Woodman, and her brother, George Woodman.

Kay cared deeply and was fiercely protective. She played the fool but wasn't one. Her luck wasn't great, but her enthusiasm was infectious. She had great friendships and life-long buddies, from her elementary days in Mansfield, Ohio, to her vice-presidency of the Pi Beta Phi sorority at Ohio State, to the neighborhood gatherers on Lakeway, her workmates at IBM, and the Cancun comrades. All were in on the prank, all loved the ludicrous, all enjoyed the kook.

Kay will be greatly missed. Mostly by her sons, who battled for her love and basked in its embrace. She's been missing from Michigan for the last several months living in Colorado. A memorial service is planned on or about the 4th of July. Her wishes are to be interned at Fort Custer with Bob.

Please consider contributing to the Colorado Blood Cancer Institute (https://bloodcancerinstitute.com) where Kay was excellently treated, and to Tru Community Care (https://www.trucare.org) where she was beautifully poised to bridge the other side.

Party on princess.
