Age 92, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born in Henderson Twp., MI, on December 22, 1927, the son of the late Dexter and Margaret (Hofstra) Stocking. After graduating high school, Marvin was drafted into the armed services. He was a Corporal who fought on the front lines during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he returned to make Michigan his home. Marvin was a hard worker and was very handy which led to a lifelong career as a carpenter. He built his family home, birdhouses, custom cabinets and many other woodworking projects. He loved watching and feeding the birds, being outside and enjoyed taking trips up north to Mackinac Island. Marvin had a strong faith in the Lord and was a loyal and involved member of Christ Temple Church where he served as a Deacon. Marvin loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind many wonderful memories of a life well lived. On September 11, 1964, he married the love of his life, Mildred Stocking who survives. He is also survived by three children, Diane (Larry) Crosby, Douglas (Laurie) Stocking, Nancy (Chad) Laws; grandchildren, Jennifer (Keith Thompson) Crosby, Jessica (Chris) Brownie, Jonathan (Codi) Crosby, Maxwell, Jacob, Grant, Pierce, Delaney Stocking, Brandon Kling; Haley, Douglas, Dakota Laws, four great-grandchildren, Jason, Abigail, Katelyn, Gabrielle Brownie; two brothers, Ralph (Marilyn) and William Stocking; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a great-grandson, Killian Crosby and siblings, Edith, Carl, Marian, Bruce. A private service will be held and he will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Temple Church-Pastor Tony Thomas, c/o the funeral home.
