Mark Stephen Szekely, 73 of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away with his loving wife by his side April 18, 2025. He was born in Kalamazoo on November 3, 1951, the son of Stephen and Joan Szekely.

Mark was a 1969 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and then completed his bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University. He spent his career as an electrician and was a member of IBEW, he served as the assistant business manager for several decades.

Mark loved the outdoors, he would go flyfishing for brook trout in the Upper Peninsula and the mountains of North Carolina. He enjoyed tying flies and was very proficient. He made shadow boxes for his doctors with beautiful flies for their offices.

He and Jane relocated to Florida after retirement, and he kept himself busy working at Home Depot for several years.

He loved swimming and was an avid reader and cribbage player.

In later years when he had cancer, he turned to building model airplanes, this helped pass time and kept his creative juices flowing.

Mark is survived by his wife Jane, stepchildren, daughters Christine and Michelle, son Donald, grandchildren Tim, Ben, Sarah, Alex and Kyle, great granddaughter Letizia, brothers Michael, Gary, and Scott, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ralph.

Services for Mark will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Home 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009 on Friday, May 2. Friends are invited to visit Mark's family beginning at 10 AM until the funeral service begins at 11 AM. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South at 12 PM and lunch will be served at the funeral home following the graveside service.
