Hotop, Mark 4/15/1974 - 7/13/2022 Golden Colorado Our beautiful, adventurous, athletic, talented Mark, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes July 13, 2022 in Golden, Colorado where he has been a resident for many years. He is the son of Margaret C. Woodruff and N. John Hotop (deceased). Survived by his step-Father James B. Woodruff, siblings John Hotop and Emily Hotop Blair, husband Casey, niece Grace Anglin, nephews Rocco Anglin, Ian Woodruff, step Brothers Andrew Woodruff, Peter Woodruff, wife Amanda; Aunts and Uncles and many cousins. Mark graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1992 where he was part of a very successful Blue Devil soccer team. In 1993, Mark graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. He was a member of the Gould Ski Team skiing at Sunday River there. He found out there were a lot of good skiers there, however he met the challenge. Mark attended Western Michigan University, graduating in1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree. During his time there he was a member of Western's Water Ski Team. After graduation he stayed in the area working at Bell's Brewery where he was in charge of music events. He was proud of bringing in Maceo Parker as a headliner, as well as many other notables when they were just starting out; now off the charts. Mark had a beautiful passion for the water and the mountains. He loved water skiing on Gull Lake early in the mornings and if you happened to catch his style, you were truly entertained. Colorado gave Mark the opportunity to ski to his hearts content, right thru to the end of May. Arapahoe Basin was one of his favorites. Recently he was hired by Denver Ski Lab, to begin in August. This is a facility that tends to Olympic hopefuls that come to the mountains to train. He was excited by this opportunity as he excelled in snow skiing. Summit Kids Racers was a special time for Mark; he loved kids and helping them improve their race techniques was something he embraced with enthusiasm . Michigan summers in South Haven during his earlier years at our cottage in Eaton Park were most enjoyable with his South Haven buddy. They would rip around town on their BMX bikes daily (town not so busy back then!) stopping for a swim and occasionally food.... they were hard to keep up with. Celebration Of Life will take place in Golden, CO August 13, 2022, 2:00PM at The Applewood Golf Course. 14001 W. 32nd Avenue, Golden, CO 80401 All are welcome to attend. In memory of Mark's love of skiing and teaching youth on the mountain, please direct donations to SOS Outreach, sosoutreach.org/.give and designate "In memory of Mark". SOS Outreach builds character and leadership in youth through mentoring outdoors. Ski into your sunset Mark... "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality" - Emily Dickinson
