Marian Nelson

Nelson, Marian J. Marian J. (Garfield) Nelson, age 86, formerly of Norton Shores, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Fargo, ND. She was born on November 29, 1934 in Augusta, MI to Lawrence and Oneita (Pease) Bostwick and resided in the Norton Shores area for 45 years. Marian was a nurse at Roosevelt Park Nursing Home. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was the "rock" of her family, known for her helpful and unselfish demeanor. Marian was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Norton Shores. SURVIVORS include her two children, Susan (Rodney) Garfield Nelson, and William (Pamela) Garfield Jr.; grandchildren, Erin (Ryan) Cooper Misner, Gregory (Jessica) Gambill, Timothy (Sarah) VanOudheusden, and William Garfield III; six great grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Ethan, Abigal, Jase and Crew; brother, Rolland (Judi) Bostwick; and sister, Marguarite Sturgeon. Marian was preceded in death by her husbands, William Garfield and Walter Nelson; brother, Robert Bostwick; and sister, Myrtle VanBruggen. Public visitation will be 1-3 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church (1066 E. Byron Rd. Norton Shores). A family Graveside Service will be at Day Cemetery in Augusta, MI with Pastor Doug VanderMolen officiating.
