Margaret Ann Carlson (Rysenga) of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away June 1, 2023. She was born November 15, 1934, to Herman and Helene Rysenga of Kalamazoo. Margaret was the oldest of 7 children.

Margaret graduated from Comstock High School and attended Western Michigan University studying Chemistry. She met Loren Carlson there and they were soon married. Margaret became a military wife following Loren from college at Michigan Technical College to various Air Force bases in Ohio, Georgia, Texas, Florida, California and Hawaii.

Margaret and Loren raised three sons and loved participating and encouraging them in their various sports and hobbies. She loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorite things were doing cross stitch art, bird watching, reading a good novel and going to see live music with family and friends. She was also a member of the K'zoo Folklife Org. Margaret was also generous with her time and money. She donated to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Wounded Warriors, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, Gospel Mission and the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.

She is survived by her three sons: Dale (Ve), Steve, and Neal as well as two brothers Chuck (Cathy), Paul (Judy), and a sister Libby (Ken) Flickinger.

She also has three grandchildren, Thomas Carlson, Tracy Carlson (Hathaway) and Jennifer Carlson and one great grandson, Trent Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Susan, Tom and Ken.

Funeral services will be held July 20, 2023, at the Chapel at Mt. Everest Memorial Park, 3941 S. Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo. Visitation will be held at 1:30 pm followed by the memorial service. Memorials in Margaret's memory may be directed to the charity of your choice.
