McIntyre, Mae 2/28/1926 - 12/12/2020 Decatur Mae Gertrude McIntyre, 94, of Decatur, MI, passed away December 12, 2020, peacefully at home. Mae was born on February 28, 1926 to Ernest and Clara Gust in Detroit, MI. She married George Douglas "Mac" McIntyre on October 3rd, 1947. Together they raised three children, two sons and a daughter, on their farm in Emmett, MI. In December of 1971, they made a long-time dream come true and purchased the M-40 Bar in Decatur, MI. It is still run by the family to this day. Most of what the bar is today is a direct result of her hard-work and dedication. Mae worked well into her late 80's, always putzing, working lunch hours, managing the finances and keeping everyone in line. She had a love of roosters and everything red, always said a cookie could solve your problems and if not, you need another, and read her Bible faithfully. Mae is survived by her sons, Thomas (Connie) McIntyre of Decatur and David (Sue) McIntyre of Plainfield, IL; daughter, Peggy (Jeff) Orr of Grayling, MI; grandchildren, Steven McIntyre, Jason (Carie) McIntyre, Jodi (Mike) Ellis, Jeff (Cory) McIntyre, DeAnna Ward (Bob Foy), Julie McKee (Aaron Nelson); 11 great-grandchildren, Douglas Jr., Jordan, Joel, Naomi, Bailey, Bradley, Brody, Ethan, Eddie, Miles and Mara; and one great-great-grandchild, Leo. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, George "Mac" McIntyre; parents, Ernest & Clara; grandson, Douglas McIntyre; and brothers, Kenneth and Elliot Gust. Mae did not want any services or fuss. Cremation and private burial will follow at a later date. Please enjoy a chocolate chip cookie or two in her honor or read her favorite Bible verse, Psalm 23:1-6. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Hospice of Southwest Michigan, www.hospiceswmi.org/give/, or help keep her legacy alive by supporting the M-40 Bar & Grill, and other local businesses during these difficult times. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newell Chapel, those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur, MI 49045, www.newellchapel.com
