M. Irene Newland

M. Irene Newland, Age 91, passed away Saturday evening, July 29, 2023. Irene was born in West Point, Arkansas, on September 13, 1931, the daughter of John Jefferson and Lena D. (Hale) Boyce. Irene worked for many years as a local antique dealer. She was passionate about antiques. She was fond of dancing and had worked as a dance instructor in her younger years. In her later years she enjoyed playing the Mario video game. Irene is survived by her sons, Gregory (Jean) Lang of Kalamazoo, Mark (Sally) Newland of Portage, Steven (Sarah) Newland of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Gregory, Kelly (Rafael), Sara (Travis), Ryan, Kellie, Johnathan, Isaac, Levi; three-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and a sister. Irene will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, in a graveside service on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators or Youth for Christ, in c/o the funeral home.
