Lynne Anne Barrett (Gaide), born April 28, 1945 died February 17, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Ruth Evelyn Gaide; sister of Mary Kay Henry; wife of David Barrett; mother of Kirsten Herpst; grandmother to Ethan and William Herpst. She grew up in Kalamazoo and graduated from St. Augustine High School. She worked at Borgess Hospital in surgery then moved to Grand Rapids to work for an orthopedic doctor. Lynne moved back to Kalamazoo and acquired a job at K-Valley Orthopedics and worked for Dr. Thomas Wilmeng for 26 years as an office nurse. In 2002, she retired to take care of her elderly Mom at Borgess Nursing Home. Lynne was always selflessly giving of herself for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons. She was also an animal lover who always had a lot of dogs and cats to love. She spent time reading, doing word search puzzles, and cooking for her family. She did not travel often but enjoyed going on outings, especially an annual summer trip to her Uncle's cabin at Big Bass Lake in Baldwin. She was a faithful Catholic and lived as its teachings require. In any stay with Borgess Hospital, she looked forward to the special ministers and Holy Communion. Lynne and her husband David were married in June 1969 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Bishop's Wedding Anniversary Celebration with family and friends. The family will greet friends Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will take place Friday, February 21 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial donations in Lynne's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Barry County Police and Fire Departments as well as LifeCare Ambulance for their services.
