Damson, Lynn A. Kalamazoo Lynn Alice (Ossenheimer) Damson was born April 17, 1941 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Dale and Florence Ossenheimer. Her family moved to the Charlton Park area outside of Hastings in 1946. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1959, and went on to obtain her B.S. degree in Speech Therapy from Western Michigan University in 1963. Lynn married her high school sweetheart, William Damson, on June 20, 1964. They were happily married for nearly 59 years. They initially lived in Ann Arbor as Bill completed his education. Lynn worked for 3 years as a speech therapist in North Dearborn Heights until they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota after Bill graduated. They moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan after their first child was born in order to be closer to grandparents. They built their home in Colony Woods in Texas Township in 1971. Lynn became a stay at home mom to raise their 3 childrenBecky, Steve and Mike. She was very active in their school activities, serving as President of the Woodland PTO. Lynn enjoyed crafts. She was known for stuffed mice she made as Christmas ornaments or for other occasions. She was a co-founder of the annual boutique Paints, Patches and Paraphernalia which she participated in for 25 years. She was a member of the Portage United Church of Christ since 1983. Lynn played tennis, pickleball, and golf. She and Bill also enjoyed sailing on Lake Michigan, initially from their condo in South Haven and then from their condo on Lake Macatawa in Holland. They chartered sailboats in the British Virgin Islands with friends on several occasions. She also enjoyed attending business conferences with Bill where she made many lasting friends, some of which she was able to reconnect with when they wintered at Ocean Village in Florida. She loved international travel, making trips to Australia and New Zealand, Central and South America, Kenya and Canada after Bill's retirement. Lynn passed away the morning of March 15, 2023. She is survived by her husband Bill; daughter, Becky (John) Selenko; sons, Steve, and Mike (Emily). She was much loved by her 5 grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Lena, Alyssa and Tyler. Her sister and brother-in-law Rita and Robert Lowell and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Melvin VanNocker also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dale Ossenheimer, Jr. A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 4:00 7:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
