Formerly of Otsego, Lucille was a devoted Christian, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2020. Lucille was born February 14, 1928 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Everett and Cora (Deurloo) Holland. She helped out in her parents' dairy as a young girl and attended Otsego Public Schools. Lucille served alongside her husband in ministry at several churches and managed food services later in life. She attended a couple years at Bob Jones University. On June 30, 1947 she married her college sweetheart, Albert Hocking at her family home. They were married 30 years. Albert preceded her in death in March of 1978. She later married Bernard Lesman, who preceded her in death in June of 1991. They enjoyed travel and their Florida home to escape Michigan winters. Lucille (Lu) enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and Sunday luncheons with her church gals. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, adored her sweet dog, Misha and solving puzzles in her spare time. She prayed daily for her family and always let them know. Her great joy was her grandkids and her greatest joy was her love for the Lord. Her dear friend Linda (Kimbale) whom she loved as a sister visited her weekly and kept her abreast of all the news. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved brother, Carl (Katie) Holland, son Albert Hocking, Jr. and her grandson Albert Hocking, III. She is survived by her children, Chuck (Marcia) Hocking of Sturgis, Kathy (Rick) LaFlamme of Jackson, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will honor Lucille's life at a graveside service at Alamo Center Cemetery in Alamo Township, Michigan, Friday, September 18th at 3:00pm, officiated by Reverend Jason LaFlamme. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Northeastern Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. Condolence messages may be posted at www.winklfuneralhome.com. Bring a lawn chair for the service as no seating will be provided.
