LOWELL EVERETT CROW was born on October 2, 1935 and passed from this life on April 15, 2021. He was born in Huntington, Indiana to Reverend Lauren E. Crow and Alma Juanita Whitehead Crow. Both parents are now deceased. Lowell graduated from Greentown, Indiana High School in 1953 and was awarded the ROTC Navy Scholarship to Purdue where he studied electrical engineering. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Southern European Task Force in Italy as a specialist with the Honest John Rocket. After an honorable discharge from military service, he was employed by RCA in Marion, Indiana. He married Sondra Kay Leach in July, 1960 and they were blessed with two children, Lowell David Crow (Gwen) Centralia, IL and Mariesa Louise Crow (James Drewniak) Columbia Falls, MT, who gave them their beloved grandsons: David Drewniak, Jacob Drewniak, Christopher Crow and Michael Crow. Lowell leaves a brother, Larry Crow (Helen), of Greentown, Indiana, three nieces and their five children plus cousins from both sides of his parents' families. Upon completing his EE degree at Purdue, Lowell returned to RCA as an engineer in the quality control lab for the color picture tube (television) division. He was transferred to Pennsylvania where he participated in setting up the lab in a new plant in the Scranton area and then was moved to the RCA plant in Lancaster, PA. After 8 years with RCA, Lowell decided to return to school for his MBA. He was accepted in the marketing department at the Indiana University School of Business. While at IU he also completed his Doctorate of Business Administration. After graduating from IU, Lowell joined the faculty at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he served as professor and then chair of the marketing department of the Haworth College of Business. He enjoyed being a professor and the fellowship with his students. When he became Associate Dean, he continued in the classroom for the joy of teaching. He fulfilled 26 years of service to Western Michigan University, then he and his wife retired to Rolla, Missouri to be near their daughter and her family. He continued consulting work with the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency until he was diagnosed with Parkinson's movement disorder in 2005 and was no longer able to travel. Lowell was a member of Presbyterian Churches, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in Kalamazoo, Michigan and in Rolla, Missouri. He served as treasurer for the Rolla Church. He was active in Kiwanis and served as president of the Rolla noon club and as Lt Governor of the 10th District of the Missouri/Arkansas Division of Kiwanis International. In retirement, Lowell and his wife enjoyed travels to Asia, Europe, South American and elsewhere, visiting 27 different countries. They also enjoyed cruising, taking seven voyages with Princess Cruise Lines. Lowell always said he was following the advice of a colleague who told him, "travel as long as your health and your money hold out!" The last best cruise was to the Greek Isles and Italy to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their daughter, Mariesa and her family. Their son, Lowell, was a Naval Academy graduate and spent 30 years as an officer in the Navy which gave opportunities to attend many memorable events with him and his family. Lowell and his wife, Sondra, moved to Bloomington, Indiana in 2014 to live in the Meadowood Retirement Community where they were residing when he passed away. They enjoyed new friendships and appreciated the security of living there. Lowell has donated his brain for Parkinson's research to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Memorial contributions to American Parkinson Disease Association would be appreciated. A private family memorial service and internment will be at the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
