Louise E. Wesseling (VanSweden), age 76 of Kalamazoo, peacefully walked into the arms of Jesus on October 22, 2023, with family by her side. She was born on April 24, 1947, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Jacob and Betty (Kloth) VanSweden. Louise was a 1965 graduate of Loy Norrix High School. She worked in communications throughout her life, with a few years at Michigan Bell and she retired after 31 years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. On September 16, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Wesseling, and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage, until his death in 2021. They were active members of the Portage Central Band Boosters while their children were in school. They were members of West Oshtemo Baptist Church and attended Bethlehem Baptist and Texas Corners Bible Churches. Louise enjoyed crafting, with scrapbooks, ceramics, and crocheting. Louise had a very loving, friendly spirit and she would go out of her way to make someone feel welcome or to do something for someone in need.
