Lois Smith

Formerly of Kalamazoo, MI Lois Mae Smith, age 76, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Rochester, NY. She was born on September 9, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI a daughter of Neal and Rena Spanninga and had lived most of her life in Kalamazoo, MI. Lois was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church. On August 20, 1964, Lois married Stewart R. Smith who preceded her in death on September 24, 2014. Lois then relocated to Rochester, NY to be closer to her son and family. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carolyn Zoodsma; and brothers-in-law, Douglas Smith and Andy Schickel. Surviving are her son, James (Emily) Smith; grandsons, Kevin and Trevor Smith; sisters, Judy Schickel and Nancy (Tim) Perry; brother-in-law, Brad (Becky) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Third Christian Reformed Church, when services will begin with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Baker and Pastor AJ Gretz, officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Third Christian Reformed Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
