Lois Carlson

Carlson, Lois Jean Of Kalamazoo, MI Lois Jean Carlson, age 84, passed away on May 4, 2021 at her residence. Lois was born August 7, 1936 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of the late Byron and Gertrude (Doorenbos) Tamplin. She was a lifelong area resident and worked as a paraprofessional for Kalamazoo Public Schools, retiring after 23 years of service. Lois was a member of St. Andrew Community Church, the Kalamazoo Association of Retired School Personnel, 4H, and Kalamazoo County Agricultural Society. On August 20, 1955, Lois was united in marriage to Eric L.J. Carlson, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2018. Together they raised a wonderful family. Surviving are their three children, Jeff Carlson, Jill Carlson and Jean (Ben) Sawin; two granddaughters, Grace and Riley Sawin; brothers-in-law Jerry Barker and Carl "Merle" Carlson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Janet Barker; in-laws Herb and Connie Carlson; and Merle's wife, Beverly Carlson. Due to Covid concerns there will be no visitation or services at this time. A private burial will take place next to her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock Township. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Lois' Life will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorials in Lois' memory may be given to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Rochester, MI, The American Cancer Society or St. Andrew Community Church.
