MAAS - Leonard Maas, age 88, of Freedom Village, Holland, formerly of Grandville, died Friday, March 5, 2010 and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a charter member of Olivet Reformed Church. In addition to his church activities, Leonard served on the Grandville School Board, the boards of Hope College, Geneva Camp and Conference Center, Quincy Street Inc., and Capitol Bancorp Ltd. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, receiving a Bronze Star award. He enjoyed winters in Florida and singing in the choir at Marco Island Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Cornelia Maas; parents-in-law, Tom and Lavina Kelder; brother-in-law Jerry Cox. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie; his children and grandchildren, Thomas and Cecilia (Steven, Trevor, and Cara), Steve and Lisa (Ray, Jorie, Sally, Isaac, Simeon, Ezra, and Truman); brothers, Mart (Mag), Larry (Elsie), Bill (Mary Lou); sisters-in-law, Doris (Bill) Osterink, Carol Cox, Betty (Terry) Beemer; many loved nieces, nephews, and their families. A private burial will be held at Grandville Cemetery. The celebration of his life will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Olivet Reformed Church, 3085 Wallace Ave. SW, Grandville, with Rev. Josh Baron and Rev. David Bast officiating.
