Leona M. Remington, age 99, of Bloomingdale, MI passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Meadow Woods Nursing Home in Bloomingdale. Leona was born October 28, 1917 in St. Joseph, the daughter of Julius and Mariea (Winkel) Greiffendorf and lived the majority of her life in the Bloomingdale, South Haven area. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Bloomingdale Christian Church. She always had a big flower garden, did lots of canning, freezing of vegetables and fruit, and enjoyed drawing. She loved spending time with her family. Surviving are her 4 children, Sharon (Rudy) Sauer of Bloomingdale, Bob (Kathie Miller) Remington of Bloomingdale, Gerald (Lucy) Remington of Bloomingdale, Sally Blink of Gobles; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Bill) Banks of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1969; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Remington; son-in-law, John Blink; 2 sisters, Jane Woodhouse, Ruth Reuschel; and 3 brothers, Walter, Julius and Alvin Greiffendorf. The family will meet friends 10-12 noon Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Bloomingdale Christian Church where the funeral service will be 12:00 noon with Tim Remington officiating. Interment will follow in Baseline Cemetery, Cheshire Township. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of SW Michigan or to the Bloomingdale Christian Church.
