Obituary
Lenore Lee Holland Ethridge, born May 18, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away April 3rd, 2026 leaving a legacy of education, service, and compassion. She was the only child of Grady Harper and Pearl Holland and was raised in Holly, Michigan. A valedictorian of Holly High School, Lenore earned her degree in Education from the University of Michigan in 1963. She dedicated more than 30 years to teaching Spanish, ESL, and Social Studies in Michigan schools, including Kalamazoo Central High School, and also contributed to the Kalamazoo Adult Education Program. In 1965, she married Robert Wiley Ethridge. Together they had one son, Michael Robert Ethridge. Lenore was a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and an active participant in the Kalamazoo Alumnae Chapter. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, photography, and cooking, and was known for her warmth, intelligence, and deep love for others. Her life was marked by dedication, kindness, and lasting impact on all who knew her.
A Visitation for family and friends from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Harper Funeral Home Inc. 521 Douglas Avenue, in Kalamazoo, MI. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will hold the Omega Omega Ceremony from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Memorial Service following at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests sending donations in care of Kalamazoo Adult Education, to help supply caps and gowns to graduating students.
