Laura Gay Peterson

Laura Gay, 85 years old of Three Rivers, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday afternoon, April 5, 2020. Gay was born August 10, 1934 in Holland, MI the daughter of the late Cecil and Una (Glidden) Knapp. She graduated from Lawrence High School and attended Moody Bible College. She was employed for several years at Malnights Bakery in Kalamazoo and also worked at Burger King in Three Rivers. Gay was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church, enjoyed spending time with her family, and playing bingo. On May 15, 1954 she was united in marriage to Dwight Peterson who preceded her in death on June 26, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Peterson; a grandson, Cory; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and John Kloosterman. Gay is survived by her children, Dixie (George) Deemer, Sandy (Scott) McDonald, Carol (Roland) Guidry, Virginia (Don) Schwemer, Ben (Tammy) Peterson; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Nancy (Tom) Kloosterman, Jack (Judy) Knapp, Connie (Jim) Wirt; and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Private burial will be in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery.
