Larry VanDerRoest

Larry Joe VanDerRoest, Sr., age 74, of Trezevant, TN formerly of Portage, MI lost his battle with cancer on Monday, February 23, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Huntingdon, TN. Larry graduated from Portage High School in 1962. A lifelong welder, one of his first jobs was the construction of Portage Northern High School. He retired from A.O. Smith & Tower Automotive in Milan, TN. He married the love of his life, Kay Crocker, on July 10, 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Margaret (Madden) VanDerRoest; sisters, Evelyn Alden and Linda Bowerman; granddaughter, Brittney. He was survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay (Crocker) VanDerRoest; three sons, Larry (Kathy), Billy (Stacy) VanDerRoest, and Phillip Lee White, all of Trezevant, and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Brummitt Funeral Home on February 26, 2017. Burial is at Hopewell Cemetery, Lavinia, TN.
