BARIBEAU - Larry Lee Baribeau, age 71, fell asleep and into the welcoming arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday May 19, in his Hess Lake home in Newaygo, Michigan. Larry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Matt E. and Ruth (Barbara) Baribeau; and his son, Scott Allan Baribeau. He is survived and loved by his children, Michael L. Baribeau of Rockford, Steven D. (Ellen) Baribeau of Grand Ledge, Melisa R. (Brent) Mulder of Grandville, and Matt P. Baribeau of Grant; grandchildren, Nick, Sarah, Alex, Anna, and Maggie Baribeau, Chase and Ethan Mulder, and Lee Baribeau; Larry's sister, Sharyll A. Baribeau of Grant; and brother, Robert (Pat) Baribeau of Ludington; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his Christian youth group. Throughout the years, he enjoyed scuba diving, piloting his twin engine airplane, motorcycles, being an Indian Guide father, and Larry often helped people in need. He served in the National Guard and was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp. Larry was a devout Christian, worshiping at the First Baptist Church of Newaygo, volunteering his time to perform custodial duties, and working with the Gideons to provide Bibles. Larry had an outreach ministry for young people who he witnessed to and promoted Christian fellowship and church attendance. Larry was a second generation jeweler. His son, Steve, is a third generation jeweler and present owner of the jewelry repair business that Larry founded in 1963, Baribeau and Sons Jewelry Hospital, which he built into the largest repair shop in Michigan. Per his request, cremation has taken place at McKinley Funeral Home in Newaygo. Larry Baribeau's funeral will take place on Monday, May 24 at the First Baptist Church of Newaygo, 1546 E 82nd S.E. Newaygo 49337, at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Holeman, officiating. A time of fellowship, visitation and dinner will follow at the church's Fellowship and Educational Hall, 12 Quarterline S.E. Newaygo 49337. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a memorial contribution may consider First Baptist Church's Youth Group fund in Larry's name.
