73, passed away on Wednesday March 4, 2020 at his northern lake house, losing his battle with ALS. Larry was born June 5, 1946 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He grew up in the Augusta area, graduating from W.K. Kellogg High School and majoring in Art at Michigan State U. In 1968 he moved to NYC and then to San Francisco, CA in 1970. In the early 1970's he returned to the Battle Creek area and with his business partner William Albert, purchased a florist shop. The store evolved into a jewelry and gift shop and when the opportunity came up, they moved the store to the Kalamazoo Mall as Cachet Gems. Larry, with his ever changing staff, spent over forty years in Kalamazoo, then the Portage Area, designing, creating and happily serving his customers until in 2018 Cachet had to be closed due to his declining health. Larry is survived by David King, brother Hal (Debi) Babcock, sisters Cyndee (John) Mishler, and Ellen Grubius. Nieces Kristen Buerger, Karen Randall, nephews Brian Grubius and Daniel Wood, and 9 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Kathrine(Aagaard)Babcock, his niece Laura Mishler, and his brother-in-law, Dennis Grubius. Cremation has taken place. No Visitation or services are scheduled at this time.
