Kyle Taylor died suddenly on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, in Kalamazoo. The evening before, he enjoyed a strawberry sundae, fries, and a beagle named Honey in bed with him (thank you, Carolyn). He had a beagle and a hunting dog named Honey, making this perfect evening the night before his death. Kyle was born on February 17th, 1938, in Indiana.

He spent most of his life working at General Motors of Kalamazoo and several years at UpJohn Corporation and did serve in the Army Reserves. His passion was hunting everything (pheasants, rabbits, turkeys, and deer). He loved all animals and had many pets, including several West Highland terriers (Wally I, Wally 2, Wally 3, a.k.a Buddy). At one time, he had a goat named Bumper and a feral cat named Cally Sue. She quickly became an inside cat and enjoyed Kyle blowing the hair dryer on her daily. He and his wife Joy lived in a beautiful home on West Lake in Portage. They were married for over 52 years.

Surviving family members are daughter, Judy (Ed) Allen and grandsons, Chris, Jason, and Steven. He also had very special nieces, Pam (George) Yoder-Gagnon, Jill (Dean)Casteel-Hendricks, Lisa (Bill) Deskins-Arends, Ann (Caz) Deskins-Russell and Teresa (Rick) Deskins-Dillman. Kyle was preceded in death by his wife Joy in 2013, youngest son Scott in 1993, and son Mike in 2022. Kyle was a sweet and happy man.

A private graveside service was held in Portage Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Kyle requested memorial donations to SPCA of Southwest MI. Arrangements entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo MI 49007. To view Kyle's personalized web page, please visit
