Kenneth Rysenga

Rysenga, Kenneth J. Kalamazoo, Michigan Kenneth J. Rysenga, age 82 of Kalamazoo, peacefully passed from earth to His heavenly home on June 26, 2022. He was born September 14, 1939, in Kalamazoo, the son of Harm and Helene (Steketee) Rysenga. Ken was a 1957 graduate of Comstock High School and received his MBA in finance from Western Michigan University. He briefly served in the U.S. Coast Guard. For 30 years, he worked for The Upjohn Company, spending many years in the Asgrow Seed division. He then was an investment broker with Investment Planning Associates out of Elkhart, Indiana. Music was always important to Ken, having played saxophone in a Jazz Band and sang in various barbershop choruses and quartets for over 30 years. He loved spending time on the water bass fishing. On January 31, 1997, Ken married Mary Carpenter in Paw Paw. They enjoyed 25 years filled with laughter, joy, and love. Ken's family includes his wife, Mary Rysenga; his children: Christopher (Sharon) Rysenga, Elaine Kauffman, and Julie (Mike) Hoffman and their mother Jeanne Scofield; his stepdaughter, Deedee Mortimer; his 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Margaret Carlson, Charles Rysenga, Paul (Judy) Rysenga, and Elizabeth (Ken) Flickinger; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Elaine Rysenga and his brother, Tom Rysenga.
