Kathleen "Kathy" Marie (Knapp) VanMaanen, age 74, daughter of OK and Leah Knapp, passed away after a long battle with a heart condition. Kathy was raised in Parchment MI, graduating from Parchment High School and moving to Vicksburg, MI with her husband where she raised her family. She work at Canteen Services until retiring and moving to Bear Lake, MI, returning to Vicksburg again in 2012. Through the years she was an avid reader, trekked to many a garage sale, participated in bowling leagues and enjoyed crocheting. Yet it was baking that she loved best. Called the 'cookie lady' by many she was known to bake a dozen or ten at a time, enjoyed by family, friends and neighbors alike. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Jack Sr., sister-in-laws Sondra (VanMaanen) Madsen and Phyllis (Lane) VanMaanen and brother-in-laws Dave Gipson and Lee Simmons. She is survived by her daughter Patricia VanMaanen (Marcel Tutt), her sons Jack Jr. (Jill), Mark (Alicia) and Todd VanMaanen, her sisters Janet Simmons and Barbara Gipson, her brother-in-law Leroy VanMaanen (Gloria), her sister-in-law Helen Rishel (John), her 6 grandchildren; Keri VanMaanen and Dana (VanMaanen) Riley and Ariana, Gabriele, Mallory and Nathaniel VanMaanen; and 2 great-grandchildren, Abigail Shackley and Jackson Riley; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. At the request of Kathy and her children a celebration of Kathy's life will be planned for family and friends in the summer. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes
