Katherine Ann Johnson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 21, 2021. Katherine was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan to John and Ruby (Tyler) Bont on December 14, 1935. She went to high school at Comstock High School and graduated in 1954. Katherine was united in marriage to Albert E. Johnson, September 15, 1956, and was preceded in death by him in 1993. She worked as a bookkeeper her entire adult life at several different businesses, including Philip Perry Equity Co. Katherine enjoyed many things in life she was an avid cook, she was known for her holiday cookies, especially at Christmas when she would make over 70 dozen to distribute to family and friends. She was an active member of Westwood Church of God for 82 years, where she sang in the choir for many years, volunteered with several children's groups, and was on the hospitality team and served as a greeter. She recently attended Northbridge Church and most importantly loved Jesus and His word. Katherine also enjoyed membership in the Kalamazoo Rose Society, serving as their president for five years. She loved to garden, especially roses. Katherine is survived by her brother: Lewis Bont and his wife Carolyn; sisters-in-law: Pat Bont, and Joyce Nichols as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Johnson and brothers: Milford Bont and Kenneth Bont. A service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 28 at Northbridge Church with Reverend Ray Brandon officiating, located at 8824 Douglas Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. There will be a visitation for an hour prior to the service. A Graveside Service will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South at 11:30.
