Smidt, III, Kasper Bangor, Michigan Kasper Smidt, III, age 82 of Bangor, went to be with his Lord on November 15, 2021. He was born on April 12, 1939, in Chicago, the son of Kasper, Jr. and Anna (Duitscher) Smidt. He attended Bangor High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Kasper served in the Army for six years before his honorable discharge. While stationed in Germany, Kasper met and married Waltraud "Susy" Schisnowski in 1960. They settled back in Bangor on Scott Lake. Kasper worked for his dad for many years before starting his own Die Cast business, Die Cast Press Manufacturing. It started in Hartford in 1979 and later relocated in 1995 to the industrial park that he created in Paw Paw on what would become Kasper Drive. Scott Lake was home to Susy and Kasper. He loved his time spent there and the many friends he made and lives he impacted over the years. Time with his family was the most important thing to Kasper. His true joy was watching his children, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren grow and follow in his footsteps. He imprinted his strong work ethic and meticulous way of doing things into all of them. His family includes his wife, Susy Smidt; his children: Diane (Wilfred) Reinhardt, Ronald (Constance) Smidt, Debra (Steven) Wanders, and Dana (Peter) Cook; his grandchildren: Nicholas, Keehan, Ronald, Jr., Kasper IV, Michelle, Steven, Joseph "Michael", Stacy, Sammy, Zachary, Kendra, Caleb, and Rachel; his 15 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Glen Smidt and William (Gail) Smidt; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 12:00 PM at New Apostolic Church of Portage, 3600 W. Milham Ave, Portage, with his son-in-law, Pastor Peter Cook officiating. A private burial with military honors will be held at Hoppin Cemetery, Bangor. Friends may visit with his family an hour prior to the service on Saturday from 11-12 PM. Donations in memory of Kasper may be made to New Apostolic Church Children's Ministry. Please visit Kasper's personalized online guestbook at https://www.langelands.com
