Karri Lynn Portage Passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 14, 2021 due to complications of Covid at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Karri was born October 1, 1979 the daughter of Kirk and Kathie (Rabb) Nitz. She was a graduate of Portage Northern High School Class of 1998. During her senior year she was very proud and honored to be one of the bands drum majors. She shined on stage in several musicals and plays for Portage Northern. She was also a fantastic team member for the PN Forensics team. Go Karri! She was also a proud member and competed in many dance competitions with Steps Dance Studio. Karri earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Michigan University in 2003 and graduated from Empire Beauty School and was a licensed cosmetologist. Karri enjoyed face timing with friends, water color painting, shopping, and her cat, Mittens. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Fred Nitz, Jerry and Jackie Kimble, and Steven Rabb. Karri is survived by her mother, Kathie Nitz; father, Kirk (Connie) Nitz; grandmother, Arlene Rabb; sister, Kristine Biddle; her very precious nephew, Ian Biddle; her best friend, Kevin Spangelo; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Unfortunately, Karri was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease over 10 years ago which began her challenging and very difficult journey of non-stop doctor visits, infusions, medications, continuous oxygen, and numerous hospital visits at U of M and Bronson Hospital. She was so strong willed and fought her battle to the very end; then succumbed to Covid. She was taken far too soon from all of us! Our love surrounds you Karri forever! Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Monday, December 20 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 Milham Rd, Portage, MI 49024 where a memorial service will be held at 11:00am. The family requests that masks be required for the service. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association. To view Karri's personalized webpage please visit https://www.langelands.com
